Rep Power: 2 ![]() | Ok so this might be a touchy subject based on how many people feel a certain way about particular methods of protecting ones home and family. And since we dont have a home security forum. I was curious how everyone protects their homes/families and valuables. I had an ADT system that i recently upgraded, and as to not go into TOO many details it's got a lot of great fail safe features and redundancy. Costs a pretty penny though but the monthly bill isnt that bad considering some of the other bills i pay per month on stupid things. Other than that i have a few handguns placed safely and strategically around my home. They're are a lot of very clever gun safe ideas out there that hide things in plain sight. what do you do? |

| jeef | No security system where I am at now. I just have some knifes and various tools hanging around that could be used as weapons. I want to get a .45 and a 12gage but the woman is very anitgun. |

Rep Power: 2 ![]() | best way to fight an anit gun wife is 1) show her the bed side biometric safe you're going to buy for your handgun (gunvault bio) then show her the statistics of home owner murders when the home owner is armed as apposed to when the homeowner is unarmed. Then tell her that majority of killings happen when the robber things you arent home. When all else fails go get it anyway. Chances are if you ever need to use it, she wont question the fact that you had it. lastly, think about a 40 cal S&W for your bedside weapon. Easier to put mulitple rounds on target and has enoughs stopping power to do the job. I own a .45 two .40, 2 9mm and a .380 My best side weapon for both my wife and myself are .40 cals. |

Rep Power: 10 ![]() | i have a swiffer ![]() but my roommate has a .40 I don't really live in a bad area, so it's too much of a concern to me. home break-ins around here are pretty rare. Plus, i'm home a lot, and have more cars than drivers, so there's always a car in the driveway that makes it looks like someone is home all the time. i have no wife or kids to protect... and i have insurance for my shit. so for the time being, take my shit and have a good day

| Junior Member | I'm more worried about my motorcycle getting stolen than my house getting broken into. But that is what insurance is for.
