Default New Roof.

Well almost that time of the year , getting cool enough so I can start getting ready to re-roof the house. We just bought this place about almost 2 years ago and the roof has leaked under hard rain storms. I have decided to go with an Elk 40 year high definition Shake wood architecture shingle. The sky light is also getting replaced , just haven't chosen the right one . If you ask me I say do away with it.

The house was built in a Solar effecting subdivision. It gets hot as hell in here in the summer. And I have these Solar panels on the side of the house. And the heat they attract is insane.

The pitch of the roof is a 12/12 . And I will be doing most of the tear off and install myself. Due to family and friends are a Lil timid getting up there.

One side of the roof has 2 layers of shingles and the other side only has one layer? ??

Since you can see the roof isn't quite that big, I am saving a fortune doing this myself. 19 square of shingles .

This is the color we have ordered.

install some gutters while you're up there. That will add (or rather, remove the decline of) value to your home.

Nah the higher the pitch the better. I did roofing for 5 years and this is a walk in the park for me. I should have it all tore off and put back on in 3 days. I still havent decide anything for the sky-light yet. Nor what to do with those solar panels in the front of the house.

If the solar panels go , then the sky light should stay. Shingles wont be here at the house for 2-3 weeks . I have time to make the right choice.

that's about as steep as my roof that was just re-done. Should look good when it's all done!

I use to love to get harnessed up to a rope anchored at the midpoint of the ridge, then let out enough rope until I was almost to the bottom edge. Then I would stand on the end of the ridge and run straight down towards the edge. Keeping the rope tight, you swing around right on the edge of a death drop. Good times.

Never used a harness. slows me down. But I dont think I will hanging off the roof if I did have one on.

Shingles are scheduled for delivery on this coming monday betweem 8am-10pm. I will be placing all the shingles on the peak of the roof supported by a 2x4 nail to the trusses.
