Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Ok well a few weeks ago I noticed some water on the floor of my garage and it was in the back by the window. So I was unsure where It came from. Well I noticed the other day after a lot of rain my window trim was damp. Then the next day while it was raining I went in to the garage and I saw water dripping onto the blinds. So I pulled all the trim off. I went outside to see what was going on. Basically the shingles do not hang over. I can pull the last row of shingles up and see the fiberglass insulation in the wall. So I planed on bending up some aluminum at work at about a 45 degree angle and have it tuck up underneath the shingles and go into the gutter. I talked to my buddy who is a roofer and he said that will work until I put a new roof on. Now my question is. My drywall still looks okay and I put a dehumidifier out in the garage to help dry it all up. I wont have my new piece of metal until tomorrow but I nailed the shingles down for now. I am guessing that my drywall is fine. As soon as I remove the water source (if any mold) everything will be fine. Is this a safe bet? |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | That is what I figured. I just noticed the water. It has only done it a few times. The previous owners used the garage as a living room. They have molding around the floor and a skylight. Now it is my garage with a skylight. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | A skylight in a garage is awesome. That would be really nice for working on and waxing cars. I like the idea so much that I would actually do this. One thing though - my master bedroom is right above the garage. I'm not sure how to explain the hole to my wife. Maybe I could put a pole in the hole. This could serve a double duty. At night cover the hole in the floor and have instant entertainment , or remove cover in the daytime and have a quick escape route.![]() |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | I absolutely love the sky light. I keep it open in the summer and water does not get in. It keeps it cooler too. I redid the molding and primed it this weekend. It needed some more Spackle today. I will sand it down and most likely prime it again and paint the molding, See how the weather is. |
