Default Signed the siding contract...

this past Saturday. Found this great contractor right down the street from me. Been in business over 20 years, doesn't subcontract his work and come to find out is a friend of the family.

Here's the gist of whats being done:
· Rip and Remove
o Aluminum Siding
o Wood Shake Shingles
o Fascia Material
o Gutters
o Door and Window Casings
· Install
o 5/8” Foam Insulation
o All New Window & Door Casings with Clear or white Silicone
o Fascia & Rake Casing
o Corner Trim Pieces - White
o .048" Alcoa Siding - Victorian Grey
o .048" Alcoa Cedar Shake Siding - Victorian Grey on front gable area of house
o Light Blocks around all exterior Lights
o “L” or Drip edge to around Pergola and Deck to allow for proper drainage
o Insulated Garage Door and Genie Garage Door Opener
o Garage Window w/Mutton (to match existing windows in house)
o Seamless Gutters w/”Waterfall Cap”
§ Move Existing Downspout on Front of House to West Side (Chimney Side) and East on side of Front House Gable.
§ Install Gutter on Rear Garden Shed w/Downspout eastern side (by trees)
o Mailbox to be reinstalled by homeowner
o “Mantles” Above Windows on Front of home
o Raised Panel Shutters on Gable Front Window (haven't decided on color yet)
All for the tune of 9k out the door including debris removal. I bartered with him to for this work and in exchange of 9k and a website for his business...

He and his crew starts the end of April.

We also purchased a new front door and sidelight which is getting installed in approximately 4 weeks (before the siding).

Pic for reference (gable area is the "bump out" with the window and shutters. This section will all be in vinyl "cape code shingles.":

I am surprised you aren't doing this yourself. I heard hanging vinyl siding isn't that hard to hang.

It isn't. But I want to enjoy my summer

I have too many plans and not enough time to do them. I'm currently renovating the back room into a family room so thats taking up my time. After that its outdoors stuff (finishing trim work on the deck) and then onto a new Laundry room and then on to the first bathroom. After that it'll probably be the front porch.

I have no time for siding. lol

any paticular reason you didn't do tyveck(sp?)? The reason I ask is I'm looking to get rid of the aluminum siding and replace with insulation and vinyl siding.

Also in for updates.
