Rep Power: 0 ![]() | I have been a member during my house redux project and will continue to be a member. For those of you who do not know what Direct Buy is, it is a company that lets you buy directly from the manufacturer, thus eliminating the middle man or middle men. You can save alot of money, and I'm not just talking about nickels and pennies, I am talking about thousands of dollars. Quirks: You have to purchase a membership. This membership is not cheap, it is around 5K, but if you are doing anything serious, even a window install on your house, you will come out even because of the huge discount that you will get on your windows. Money saved + membership cost <= retail price of windows. I did a whole house, all windows, all new cabinetry, all new fixtures, all new flooring, and I can't add up all of the money that I saved. Just on my kitchen cabs I saved around 20K on retail pricing. Shipping direct from manufacturer. None of the products that you order are stocked in a central warehouse. They all come directly from the manufacturer. This means that you will have to wait between 1 and 6 weeks depending on the product to arrive. But you are getting all top notch products at excellent prices. Pricing: Not all Direct Buy prices will beat retail stores, but most will. Obviously DB cannot compete with HD or Lowes on some materials such as a toilet because HD and Lowes make quantity agreements with American Standard (for example) to get lower than standard list pricing for products Honesty: All of the people that I have dealt with at Direct Buy are extremely honest and will tell you upfront if this is or isn't for you. If you are just going to replace a couple of doors, then this isn't for you, but if you are doing over 15-20k in work, then you will save bundles of money. These prices truly are the manufacturers list price of the products. I worked in consumer electronics for three years and remember how much TV's and receivers cost from certain manufacturers. I can vouch that these are the prices paid by the retail stores. I hope that this isn't too fan boyish, but I have had a great experience and the quality of the products will be evident when I post final pictures of my house. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | If you are going to spend the right amounts of money in the right places, it does pay off. For instance, you are going to install all new vinyl, dual pane argon, energy star compliant windows. I got numerous quotes between 8.5 and 12K. All preaching the same thing. I bought them at DB for a little over 4K. That's a minimum of 4.5K in savings on one purchase. It only adds up from there. Again, if you are spending the money in the right places, like a complete home remodel, then it does pay for itself. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | They wouldn't let me in the door unless my wife was present, then I said I'm the decision maker and tried to persuade them to let me in, but they wouldn't budge. Afterwards, they said that they only let couples in and they were all rude about it telling me that they've got my name and they won't let me attend any of their presentations in any state, ever. Well, I managed to get into a presentation in California and they wanted $7500.00 to join, but it was a "one time offer" and they had my name/info, so if I didn't join that day, I was blacklisted for life. Well, I didn't join and I'm better off because if they treat you like crap before you join, I can only imagine how bad they treat members. Screw Direct Buy! |

That's really sad and unfortunate. I guess I can only vouch for the friendly people and excellent service that we have had from our branch in Colorado. | |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | I think that it probably is worth it on some of the higher end homes. I just don't see it for middle class folks. I was really curious, I saw their commercials on TV and it's good to hear feedback. Now I know not to waste my time. |
