I wish I could, I really don't have much of any land. About the only spots I could are along the side of the house by the driveway.

I just finished putting my beds together today. Growing up my father did raised beds. Basically 2x10 pressure treated wood. Basically tear out about 4 inches of ground below the beds, put down lime and some compost and manure. I built 4 5'x5' beds but their connected. So basically a 20 foot rectangle with dividers every 5 feet.

I ordered 2 tons of garden soil (one grade higher than top soil/no rocks). I got a pretty good deal 147 bucks delivered. It would have taken me 100 bags of 40lbs bags plus the trips to move them. At 1.13 a bag it would have been 113 bucks, so i got better grade soil and didn't have to worry about loading and delivering it. Sweet

So i moved at least a ton of soil already there and grass clumps. Transplanted them to fill in the borders of the yard where the previous owner's dog worn in a small recession in the ground. Then came the moving of the dirt from my driveway to the beds 4 wheelbarrow loads then manure and lime then another load then compost, repeat.

Went to walmart believe it or not and bought all the soaker lines, drippers and timer to water the garden.

Just need to cover up the beds tomorrow to get a good 2 weeks of heating to kill any plant matter that got in.

Plan on growing:
Tomatoes
Potatoes
Red onions
Lots of peppers bell and hot
basil
lettuce
green beans
strawberries
garlic

Planning mine. I'd like to get the following in soon:

Cherry Tomatoes
Strawberries
Peppers
Green Beans

We're also adding a flower garden this year that'll be filled with sunflowers.

We are putting one in, and have just started a little work. I usually start all of my stuff indoors with jiffy pellets or any other mini greenhouse product. We are planting:

Peas,
Carrots,
Bell Peppers,
Jalapeno's,
Spinach,
Lettuce,
Tomatoes,
Cucumbers,
Corn,
Raspberries,
Strawberries,

My fruit is planted in a different location than the vegetables.

I have never done raised beds, always raised rows.
Somewhat of the same concept. Till the garden deep, then use a rake and hoe to raise up the rows. This leaves little trenches between plant rows for water collection during rain and somewhere to walk. I also use a timer, drip system and inject organic nutrients into the line for fertilizing.

With my new house, this is a new garden spot for me this year, but for the last two years I have grown amazing things out of the crappiest soil using just the right nutrients.

Go to any grow store, and they will have a good selection nutrients. I use only BioBizz products at the moment. I have used Bio Grow, and Bio Bloom with excellent results. My neighbor at my previous place was an old landscaper from way back and told me that I wouldn't be able to grow shit in that soil, but I talked him into having him till it with the big tiller on his bobcat. He could barely scratch the ground, and that is commercial equipment. Old Dave still told me that I wouldn't be able to grow shit, but a few months later he came over about every night on his quad to pick some cuc's, tomatoes, and peppers. I did get a good trade of salsa from him, so it all worked out good. He is still tilling that for my old roommates too.

Just goes to show that a little money spent on nutrients will make up for what the soil lacks.

Got my garden in finally. After a humping out 2 tons of sand and grass, humping in two tons of garden soil, building the beds, laying the weed fabric, planting, setting up the drip system, here she is.

way a head of you, all the dirt you see on the side is the dirt i took from the beds when i dug them out. As i said in my previous post if you recall, the dog the previous owner had litterally wore a track around the yard, that dirt backfilled that area and there was grass seed in it before i started the actual garden. For the rest of the yard its a constant problem. The area where the garden is now is really the only place in the yard that gets full sun the rest are under 3 huge oak trees. Just before these pictures we seeded the entire yard front and back with sun/shade seed. Already getting some sprouts... i'll keep the grass patrol informed on its progress
