Rep Power: 2 ![]() | but.... for a long time i've considered doing something "green" i've replaced all my house bulbs added more insulation, recycled a lot more, even bought things i knew had less of a carbon footprint.. but i still want to do one more thing. and this is where it could be a little silly. For a while i've wanted to setup a solar array in hopes of just powering my main computer. The idea in principle seems pretty sweet. But where the theory ends and knowledge of electricity begins, im stuck. first is it even inconceivable to think i can power a 500 watt PC with a 22" monitor and a 19" inch monitor, plus an external water cool unit from a sun charged battery? This is the first place i've started any real research so my questions are in virgin state. I've seen a few kits online that come with 75 watt output arrays (presumably 75 watts into its storage device, in this case a 12v battery). I guess the bank of batteries would have to be substantial to power the computer, theres no way we're talking just one battery here. Any insight? |

Rep Power: 2 ![]() | a guy at work is having a company come out to his house tomorrow and put up a huge array, enough to cover his $450 electric bill that his family racks up. Plus he's got the permission to toss up a few wind generators...so he can sell back energy. He's also a hardcore survivalist...his house and bills are paid for, he doesn't pay taxes, he knows the laws, and it seams like every paycheck he gets goes for guns, and his bonus checks goes for ammo. He's one of those guys that like to screw over the system every chance he can get. I'm almost in the same mindset your in...I'd love to rape free energy if I could.
