minus the built in grill/fireplace/wall, what do you think something like this would cost to build? just the florring/tiles

ie, i want some nice stone... roughly 15x20' ish maybe less.

if you do it yourself theres no way it could cost that much. i bet you could do just the flooring for the patio with a small brick wall, and even a brick fire pit (something basic) for like 2k tops. and if you get creative with the wall you could add in a light fixture or in wall flower bed. i dunno though, just some ideas.

I picked up a Unilock brochure/catalog from a buddy... been browsing through it looking for ideas on pavers. There's a local place that's a dealer, so i'm probably going to head down there eventually and look around. Washington Concrete Pavers & Patio Blocks 860-747-5242

Here's what i came up with a while ago on a basic design. the house in the pic is my real house.. the rest is poorly chopped to get the basic idea.

I realize somethings seem out of place, but i have my reasoning. I'm open to other suggestions.
The grill area away from the kitchen sucks, but there's no other reall good place to put it, and it is the least 'neighbor unfriendly' of them all.

the firepit is basically in the center of my yard (side to side) in that position. It will give heat to the patio people, the deck people, and the lucky fools in th hot tub. It will be in a litle notch-out as pictured.

the retaining wall will also act as a bench/heat retainer. it will be about a foot or so into the ground all the way out as my yard slopes uphill away from the house.

the hot tub is placed behind the deck with a little walkway to it coming off the main patio. this might be tricky as its not 100% flat there. Plus, that side of my yard is the only gate to allow a vehicle in. the white picket fence on the side shown is not big enough. i don't want to completely block that as an entrance for a pick up (going to the shed with a load, etc etc... i've had 2 trucks back there already for various things)

I wish i had a better 'total' picture, but i don't, so here's a couple backyard shots to maybe fill in what you can't see.

thats a good idea if i understand the drawing completely. i think if you bypasses the company and pieced it together yourself it would look decent and be a lot cheaper for you. we have a big ass steel bowl on the far side of the lot that was used for a fire pit. i would like to relocate it and build a small "chillax" area for us, but it will be very basic and done myself. like i said in some other post, i dont want to get to deep in this house seeing as how we want to move out within the next 3 or 4 years.

The company is only a source for the brick itself. my buddy mike will probably be doing it for/with me. he's built 10 at least so he's knows what he's doing. probably in the spring i'll be looking into this.

Have you ever thought about stamped concrete? I personally have never dealt with it, but I was just thinking what the price difference would be? You would think the concrete would be less maintenance, and maybe more durable because you wouldnt have grout joints in the concrete.

If pricing where even close I would run for this!

And this will be in the retirement home when I get to 45 years old.

Stamped concrete is very expensive to do and very hard to do right

Laying sand set pavers to me is pretty easy and much easier to repair if something gets broken and a small area needs to be redone.
