Default Furnace/Central Air.

Is there a way to make a dual stage Heating/Air system?

My thermostat is downstairs, and during the day I set it to 74-76 in the summer. When I get home I turn it down to 70 and when I go to bed I turn it to 69.

If I don't turn it down, it stays at 72 downstairs, which means its about 80 upstairs in our rooms. I can't sleep like this.

What I'm wondering is has anyone ever heard of/seen/done a dual floor heating/air unit? Where I can put in two thermostats and keep both floors at the same heat/cool level? With all my windows being new downstairs, all the cool air sticks around and it feels VERY nice down there, but upstairs doesn't see much cool air and since heat rises, I get fucked over when I'm trying to get to sleep.

You'll need to add another zone, assuming your C/A runs through your exisiting heating ducts, it would be simply having a plumber come out and add another zone to your heating/cooling system.

I know that when I was in Europe there was a little clock plug-in you could buy and you could set a schedule. Not sure if you'd be able to find something like that here.

I have a programmable tstat, but I'm too lazy to use it, easier just to turn it up and down in the morning and evenings since I walk by it anyway.

With zoning it out, would I have to put in a second tstat then?

I guess I've come full circle here, I'm thinking about this again.

Does anyone have an electric furnace? My gas furnace cost of operation is nuts, I'm thinking about replacing it within the next few years. But I'd like to know what the cost an electric furnace would run.

I'm also considering one of these systems.
McQuay Geothermal Heat Pumps - Geothermal Heat Pump 5 Ton: FCW-1060 Ingram-Water-&-Air-Equipment

With a gas bill topping 190 this month, and an electric bill of 50 things are tight, I'm looking for any possible way to cut costs in the future.
