Default My First Home!

Hey guys, new member, new homeowner.
I just signed all the closing documents today, and after they record tomorrow, I will officially own this sucker!
Let me give you a tour.

Here is the view from the road. It is decently secluded and a very low traffic road.

This is from the driveway. Front of house.

Around the side. These are the owner/builders of this house.

Here is the back of the house. I already have plans of building a huge deck off this wall

This post-on-pad type of foundation is very common in Alaska.

Here is the other side where the above ground fuel tank is. I'll probably eventually bury it, since it's a bit of an eyesore.

Garage goes here! lol
Here is a view of the small back yard they cleared. The property is just over an acre, so it extends about 100 feet past the yard into the trees.

This is the view just inside the door. Their's not much of a living room, this house is tiny.

Kitchen, duh.

This leads back to the bedroom on the left, bathroom on right.

Bedroom.

Bathroom, again, duh.

Up the stairs we go.

Where the Master Bedroom is.

Nice Closet. The GF loved that part.

Here's a few view looking down from the master bedroom.

I know you've all probably seen this before, but I just happened to see B's new site on the same day I closed and thought, hell, I'm a homeowner now, why not join up.

Planned Mods:
Me and the GF are debating doing a red accent wall here

But we are debating whether to paint just the rectangular portion, or wrap the red around the bottom and paint the utility room under the stairs here:

We were gonna use the same red as the outside trim, but it's really dark, so I'm gonna paint a board and hang it up first to get an idea of what it would look like.

Future mods include a large deck out the back, and a garage, but that will be next year.

Let me know you're opinions about the color/accent wall idea, It's decision time today.

having attampted the accent wall, i'd say don't do it.

it definitely needs some color, but all hosues are like that when they are new.

Ya I just realized that I'm not in charge of decorating, so accent wall it is, lol. She's already bought the paint and supplies so I'm on my way out there with a ladder

It's steel, and is more for snow than rain
O and Formby, yes it's very nice up here, everyone should come to Alaska at least once.

Everyone assumes AK means Arkansas
Update: got the first coat of paint on, but after doing all the taping/prep and trying to use the hand rollers (no extension) and foam brushes for cut in that the gf bought, we sent her out for brushes, pizza, and beer.
2 hours later she returns and we finish up the first coat. It's pretty uneven, and I hope that subsequent coats will blend it out better.

Main Problem:
The dipshits who did the paint used clear silicone around the door trim and under the trim on the stairs. We are using Acrylic enamel paint and it refuses to stick to the silicone I am thinking about sanding the silicone off, but if you guys have a better idea please let me know.

So primer should stick to the silicone?
I have a coat of paint on now, then I primer the edges that have silicone on them, and apply a few more coats of paint, will the color be uneven around those edges?
