I can't see me doing this myself. Sure I may save a few hundred, but if I fuck up there goes the savings out the window.

Garage doors come in sections usually... Which obviously makes them lighter to move... They can just be VERY dangerous with the wrap springs though...

Well shit... yesterday morning I went to close it (forgot to the night before) and the metal bottom piece that it sits on popped down, and now the panel is bowing out.

I'm gonna have to get this replaced soon...

Yeah , go ahead and get the loan and for the price you were qouted isnt a bad price... I would fix it before it hurt someone or broke something.

I'm just paranoid about even trying to apply for a consolidation loan to consolidate my current consolidation loan.

Garage doors aren't too tough. It's DEFINATELY a 3 trusty guy project though. The springs are treacherous.. but I haven't strung them out so much as to become horribly dangerous.

Also, if you have the change, go for the screw drive with a side mount. They way I figure it, it sorta self-locks the door. I mean, it's no lock, but your garage isn't too safe anyway.
