Default Really... REALLY considering a loan

Just to redo the garage doors. Roughly 2500 for two doors, each with one remote opener and an extra opener for the larger door installed.

Refinancing in the next few months could consolidate this loan into it if I were to try for one.

The price goes down probably around 300ish if I get the R5 doors vs the R12 doors.

I need opinions. The garage is semi insulated but needs to be redone and reroofed.

My main two car port door is barely movable after it's been raining. I just went to get some food and I'm surprised I got the door to go up.

It does have an opener, but if you leave it on it'll randomly open and close the door and the remote is pretty much junk.

IMO, if it is broke FIX IT !! And if it isnt going to be a major set back , then yeah I would def get me some new doors. And the price sounds about right on the money for 2 doors.

What size ?

Here they are back in March.

That blue carpet is what was in the kitchen, along with the rest of the carpet from the dining/family rooms.

OH and I'm finding pictures left and right... check my renovation thread for a picture of how the kitchen floor will look.

Ok I got the exact prices here. I can't find the sheet he gave me in person, but I copied them on Hondaswap.

He gave me some prices on their garage doors as well.

Dual door 18x7:

R12 Door system; 1,245.96
R5 System; 1,078.48

Single door 9x7:

R12 system; 700.46
R5 system; 598.70

1/2 hp opener; 278.68 each. Each come with one remote, and extra remote is 25 bucks.

All prices are installed and include taxes.

The R5 has extra installation with the steel on the outside and a thermo type construction (think of an insulated coffee cup) on the inside. Decent insulation since the garage is insulated and will be even more insulated once I get around to reroofing and drywalling it. I'd like to redo the lights and electrical all at that time as well.

The R12 is two pieces of steel with polystirene foam injected inbetween the sheets. More insulating, more expensive.

Well this is a client of my company. I trust them after talking with Brian quite a bit about it.

On another note, my life is just... surrounded by Brians.

Brother in law, roommate, briansol, brian from Raynor... they're everywhere.

Craftsman 53920 1/2 hp Garage Door Opener, Chain Drive at Sears.com

you're paying 150 bucks to install an opener... which judging from your post, is already wired up. its a 30 min job and a ladder.

How much, ballpark, does a new garage door cost? | Ask MetaFilter

I think you could do it yourself for under a grand and a day's time.

Just be VERY CAREFUL installing your own garage doors... The wrap springs can break your arm and get very bloody very quickly... Ask me how I know.
