Default Back to work....

Sorry...I took the last year off from working on the house....I burned out with too many projects...and got the place to a point to where it was OK....so I gave up. Spent everyday just on the computer playing games and drinking beer...

Well...the tree next to the garage that likes too drop acorns...didn't drop an acorn for the last two years...but it's dropping them this year....and the wife can't stand the noise at night....they scare the crap out of her.....so she wants the tree gone.

So a few estimates later, and prior tree cutting deals later...I've got a handle on the system. I had one estimate that will be the high one...both tree's, both stumps ground 12" below grade, drop the wood off to my neighbor, and clean up the stump grindings...for about $4500ish..... On the low side... 6" below grade and just the huge oak tree...$1600ish....

My neighbor would buy the wood for $200ish...so he can have a few years of heat.... he used to be a tree cutter himself...so I said he can cut down the smaller one to leave the big one to the company that has a crane, since it's over the garage, take it himself with a little help from his brother and me...and forget the $200...and I can have some wood when he splits it if I get a fireplace...deal.

So he'll cut the smaller tree down and haul it next door, and leave the stump. The low priced estimate guy said the stump is $1 an inch...so I'm going to dig down to get as much below grade, and get the rocks away from the stump, so the grinder doesn't throw anything that can blast thru the new siding I had installed... and make their job easier...

So I pulled up the paver's with the help from a good buddy, and he's also doing a hell of a lot of work on the digging...and hopefully he'll help on putting the paver's back down, and also help build the back porch's stairs when I buy the wood...

The wife is footing the bill for the tree work....

my main job will be cleaning up, leveling, and designing the stairs/patio....and accents..

now for some pics....

What the driveway looks like right now...the two tree's between the house and garage is coming down...

Six story tree.... (not as tall at the tree I cut down two years ago. )

The mound has been removed...

an old iron tube?.......

Back fill....

Vein's...

My canvas...

My paint....

Hopefully the trees will be gone in 2 weeks..and I can start on the artwork...

and the gallery....
More yard work

Looking good. Great curb appeal so far. I'm not a huge fan of yellow houses but it looks good with the trim.

Looks almost like a park in front. Something I really like. With the pavers, a nice walk way, and everything, it'll be real serene. One thing you could do is make like a sitting area or something in the back. Like a park bench thing or something, something to walk towards, and create some visual movement and a good place to go hang out and have a "cig" or whatever.

to have my e-cig

I'll build a new patio back there, but first got to get rid of the damn trees..

Got the smaller tree down finally... with the weather, and my leg with a blood clot, couldn't do anything for a few weeks.

and washed up the crx a little, in prep work for dropping in an engine...

and yesterday, mowing the lawn, I bent two blades...and when I went to take one blade off....the star holder was worn down to nothing... so I'll have to weld it up, and when I have some cash, just buy two new spindles off ebay.... But, I had a lot of surface rust underneath, so I power washed it, krylon rust primmer, and rubber under coating spray....then the new blades....

can you say "pimp my mower"?

65 wood rings... so about 65 year old tree....

more pics in the gallery linked in the first post.

Great job done...worth the $1700+$100 tip....

but, I'm skeptical about how deep they went. As long as I can toss a 2" paver down, and it's flat...I'm happy. If the root rots in 5 years...and it sinks...I'm prolly not going to be here that long...but if it does..I can back fill for cheap..

They cleaned up, took the shavings except whats left of the stump to keep a trip hazard so they can't be sued, and I will recommend them, and possibly call them for other jobs.

It's so fucking awesome...I can now park my car in the driveway...and not worry about acorn's and raking a shit ton of leaves anymore.

And I can park in front of the garage finally....

Looks almost empty now I'd plant something nice there... like a small hemlock or something that doesn't drip sap or acorns.
