Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Hey all i want to add electricity to my detached garage anyone have any useful tips? Does anyone know the mass electrical codes that I should follow? I will have to dig a trench to get the wires from the house to the garage. I need to know how deep i need to go and what gauge wiring I should have. |

Gauge of the wire will depend on the service panel, length, and load of the garage. Generally, most people run a sub-panel type deal. You'll need UF cable as romex/etc is not suited for wet resistance or outdoors.

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | I had planned to go at least 2 feet deep in the trench. I also have bought electrical pvc tubing to run from the house to the garage that is only about 30 feet from the house on the outside and from the service panel to the garage is about 110 feet. I was looking at getting 12-2 nomex 250 ft |
