Default Flooring

I don't know... I love this REAL hardwood flooring on the main floor, but I think it may not be repairable by sanding. The pee stains and all the crap all over it make me think it'd be best to either tear it up or just cover it with laminate flooring. I don't want carpet, simply because I don't like carpet.

Do you think I should put some dark laminate flooring on the main floor over trying to repair all of the real hardwood?

If you need some pictures, I can add some.

A sander is like 35/day plus the cost of the sand paper.

Laminate flooring is what? a buck a square foot give/take?

Like we talked about before , I dont think the stains are gonna come out. Replace the floor if its in the budget.

I think I could lay down the laminate. The problem with the floors is the stains as I said, but when they put in the new furnace, they took blocks of wood and put them in the floors where the old vents used to be and put the vents coming through the walls.

So it looks semi horrible and replacing real hardwood flooring even in chunks will probably be more expensive? Am I right in this assumption? I've done the laminate at 3 different places (mostly helped), so I think I could do it well.

I'm just scared that I'll be met with some opposition if I bring it up to my dad or brother to get some help. I could probably have a new floor (cleaner, looks nicer) within a matter of a few weeks.

Yeah, go pergo or something like that... Is the house old? If so, you can even do a "floating floor" which is basically a tongue & groove snap together floor that you dont need to nail down... Nice for old houses where the floors sometimes shift...

I was going to peel up the 60 year old linoleum in my grandparents old house and try to refinish the hard wood floor underneath, but figured it would be way to much of a hassle. They made it look so easy on This Old House LOL
