Rep Power: 0 ![]() | I recently removed all the aluminum wire from my house. It was a long job but IMO well worth it. Everything is copper except for the overhead lights. In the process I actually had to cut a few holes in the wall. Now my first floor walls have been patched quite a few times. It is very clear with the lights on. a few things that bother me about my living room, is I do not have overhead lighting. Every room but that one does. Also my walls are not insulated, Which is not a big deal. I wanted to be able to put recessed wall speakers. I am a big surround sound fan. So the question is should I gut my living room including the ceiling or should I deal with it. I can be a little OCD somtimes. BTW I already gutted the first floor bathroom. If I gut the living room it would include the hall way which is actulley not very big and one of the 2 bedrooms. I would do both of the bedrooms but I do not have enough room to put my computer anywhere else. This is going from my kitchen to my dinning room. Which actually use to be a breeze way. I ran to 20 amp circuits and 1 60AMP 240 Circuit out to my garage. I had to bust through the brick with a 1" hammer drill bit. ![]() ![]() Here is my living room ceiling it is hard to see the rafters in the picture but it is very clear in person. ![]() ![]() This use to be a mail box. They covered it up with shutters on the outside. They patched this whole but did a bad job so I broke it out and pulled the sheet metal box that was still in the wall. ![]() This is the bathroom I gutted. I have not started on it yet because I want to replace the steel left in my drain stack. Part of it cracked and home warranty came in and repaired part of it. I do not want any steel left behind the wall. I also gained access to a crawl space that I need to clean up and insulate. ![]() |

Rep Power: 5 ![]() | There is no need to insulate interior walls really... I am doing it on my remodel since I had the insulation already... But if I were you, if you I would patch the walls for now, finish the bathroom, then maybe eventually come back to this room... 1 project at a time... TRUST ME... I AM SPEAKING FROM EXPERIENCE... lol |
