Rep Power: 2 ![]() | Yeah, its a weird practice that I don't necessarily recommend. Still find it hard to believe that much for that job and its going over the exisiting siding...

Rep Power: 2 ![]() | the roof was $6,600.00...and then they found out it wasn't sheathed. +$4,000... the siding is $13,500 ... and then to cover some of the cost for the roof, they said they could not rip off the existing ceder shingles, and that would save me about $1200.... the shingles are all in very good shape, so I'm not worried about the rot. The windows was $4500, and then the wife wanted the porch windows done as well, so that also jumped up another $1690. I got about 3 other estimates...and felt like I was getting dicked around, but these guys came highly recommended from other guys at work, since they do a lot for the employees at Sikorsky...they kind of give us a decent discount. So $29,090 isn't to bad for the amount of work done, and they do...do nice work. I didn't like the some of the roofs cuts, and they came out twice already and trimmed it up, and cleaned it up. |

Rep Power: 2 ![]() | the siding is written up as: Remove existing wood siding on house only, install 3/8" foam insulation over house sheathing. Install Fairway Double 4" vinyl siding over foam insulation, including white vinyl soffits, white aluminum fascia, rake, window and door trim covers, and seam-less white aluminum gutters. Install siding on garage and shed over existing walls. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | This is WAY easier than doing your shed. Tyvek and scraping those shingles off ? Simple. |

Rep Power: 2 ![]() | oh that makes more sense, the way it was posted b4, it was reading as though the siding job was costing 30k alone. Send me the contractor name if they do a good job w/your siding. Thats a good price for the write up. ![]()

what happens in a couple years when they are a "cool moist place" and mold, mildew, and all the rest takes its toll? for $1200 bucks, i think it's a big mistake not to rip the shingles off.
